When requesting records, keep in mind these items from Ancestor Hunters:

… the Army use to use Service Numbers and later went to using Social Security Numbers. … some of the Military Records were destoryed due to fire/fires.. .and and of course it depends who gets your requests. Some only do what they can get by with, where others go far and beyond.
