Library celebrates Family History Month

October 14, 2009

In celebration of Family History Month, the Genealogy Department at Shreve Memorial Library’s Broadmoor branch will host Laura McLemore, an archivist from LSUS, at 3 p.m. Sunday.

McLemore will speak on “Life at the Turn of the 19th Century in Shreveport.”

In conjunction with McLemore’s talk, there will also be an open house in the Genealogy Department from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The library is located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive, Shreveport.

Also, Shreve Memorial Library has partnered with Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s Triumph Over Tragedy for the Big Read!

For the next two months, the library and the arts council want readers throughout Caddo Parish to read John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath” and join in discussions at library branches.

For more information, call (318) 219-3468.
