In my mail bag – Yah’ll know whut?

We Tree posted that she didn’t think that Louisiana had an online catalog. That’s odd that she would say that….but then again I don’t think she actually lives in Louisiana, either, so maybe she doesn’t know about Louisiana libraries.

I was excited to learn of My Heritage’s new acquisitions this week. Did you read about it? I enjoy My Heritage and have a few Louisiana folks to join the Louisiana Blogs My Heritage site. You can view it here.

NOLA had a good read: Family tree research sprouting again after Katrina, By Richard Thompson, The Times-Picayune

I’m not updating that surname list till after the game – and dat’s all there is to it folks. 🙂 It is a short month this month anyway.

And another thing, did you see About.com’s so called Super Bowl genealogy? I get the About.com genealogy email updates that have a little link inside the email. You can click those if you can’t see or read the newsletter inside your email. Well, don’t go there it is a disappointment the link was as bad as the email this time. Usually, Kimberly Powells’ links work. This one, about Super Bowl genealogies, was a flop. So I apologize to those of you in the group who were looking forward to seeing Super Bowl genealogies.

I found a New Orleans Saints website with a .dk extension and tried to use that auto Google translate… Well, the translator works but it still doesn’t tell you what language it is in. That was a disappointment. Here is the website. It appears Danish. That’s all the way into Denmark and has 83 Saints fans listed. KeWL.

Here is another Saints story about Roman Harper in Prattville.

Randy Seaver always has something good. His archives produced this circa 2008 post about The Super Bowl of genealogy.

Yah’ll know whut? Ray C., on Facebook, ” New Orleans is going to the Superbowl because of the victory of imagination. ” That says alot about Louisiana, doesn’t it?

  1. At FGS Little Rock, a speaker & representative of the Louisiana State Library informed me that they had no OPAC (online catalog). I didn’t believe it, so I checked. Then someone else checked as well and there was no online catalog. I was surprised that a state library had no online catalog. If something has changed in the last 6 months, then great. In my post, I was saying it was great to use WorldCat because it provided a good catalog substitute for the state library.

Thanks for the link love – I was pondering what to do for Saturday Night Genealogy Fun – you solved my problem. I'm rooting for the Saints – we loved Drew Brees and Reggie Bush here in San Diego, and I always root for the team that's never been before, or never won before. Saints fit both categories! Just wish it was Chargers-Saints, but maybe next year!
