It was awful to read about the desecration over the weekend at one of Lousiana’s historic Jewish cemeteries. I caught the news today from a Shreveport Times article and a heads up from Tracing the Tribe. NARA will be celebrating the fourth annual Jewish American Heritage Month in a few days with an opening celebration on May 27th. Here is more from DEARMyrtle on the event. This in from my mail bag:
The Winn Genealogical and Historical Association will hold a meeting Saturday May 22 at 9:30 AM. The purpose of the meeting will be to record 2 small African American cemeteries, so come dressed for work. The group plans to meet in the parking lot of the Health Unit and proceed from there to the first cemetery, Lone Hill. After the work is completed a cook out will be held at the home of Jack Crain.
This should prove to be an exciting and interesting outing so don’t miss it.
The public is invited to attend.
